Institute of Estate Agents of South Africa
The Institute of Estate Agents has a long and distinguished history. Formed it 1937 and with Henry Hermann as its first President, its objectives have remained constant: professionalise the industry, raise the levels of knowledge of Agents and establish a code listing the ethical obligations of members in their dealings with the public and with each other.
Education and training has been the main priority of the Institute and the Institute has played a pivotal role in the establishment of formal qualifications and the professionalisation of the property industry.
The Institute has also taken the lead in representing the interests of Estate agents on various Government bodies, with members serving on the Estate Agency Affairs Board, Services Seta boards and participating in various commissions.
The Institute has taken the lead in providing information to members about legislative changes and continuously updates members on proposed changes to legislation both on a national, provincial and local level.
The institute provides a forum for members to meet and discuss common interests. Regular training seminars are organised as well as social networking opportunities.
Membership of the Institute is a guarantee to the public that the Agent is professional and ethical and has undertaken to abide by both the Code of Conduct of the Estate Agency Affairs Board and the Ethical Obligations of the Institute of Estate Agents.
